Tony Onwu - Managing Director Tony Onwu, the- Pioneer Managing Director of Diamond Capital is an investment banker with over twenty years experience in the financial services industry spanning corporate banking, market and price risk management and corporate finance. Most of his career was with Citibank N.A where he left as a Vice President in 2002 to lead the resuscitation and recapitalization of Liberty Bank as Managing Director. Tony's most recent engagements were as a technical consultant to the Nigerian Presidential Adviser on Budget and subsequently as founding partner of Nima Capital Advisory Partners - a boutique financial advisory practice. Tony has an MBA from the University of Lagos and is an alumnus of several international financial services and management training programs.
Desmond Ovbiagele - Head, Debt Capital Markets Desmond was Director/General Manager of Standard Chartered Bank's Project & Export Finance department, where he was responsible for developing the bank's project and export finance business in West Africa. He started his career as a financial analyst at Nigerian-American Merchant Bank Limited (a BankBoston subsidiary at the time) and then moved to Premium Concepts Limited, a firm of Economic & Financial Consultants as a research analyst. He later joined Citigroup's regional Corporate Finance & Investment Banking Division in Nigeria, where he was Assistant Vice President, Corporate Finance and was responsible for originating and executing structured finance transactions and managing Citigroup's border loans portfolio and syndications. After Citigroup, Desmond moved to Zenith Capital Limited as Vice President/ Head, Project Finance Department and was responsible for developing and managing the firm's strategic investment banking partnerships and the origination of transaction mandates from multinationals and other top-tier institutions in Nigeria. Desmond has an MBA from the Tanaka Business School, Imperial College, University of London and a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Lagos.
Kwabena Poku-Amanfo - Head, Equity Capital Markets Before joining Diamond Capital, Kwabena was Vice President, Financial institutions and Real Estate groups of JP Morgan New York. During his tenure with JP Morgan, he was at various times, associate of the Financial Sponsor group, Vice President, strategic planning and business development. He was involved in various transactions/roles such as; origination and execution of corporate finance and M&A advisory transactions, strategic planning and business development. Kwabena began his career as a Treasury Manager/Treasury Analyst of the National Grid Group in London where he was responsible for treasury management and investment analysis. He later moved to Dresdner Kleinwort Benson (London UK) and Royal Bank of Scotland (London UK), as a Risk and Audit Manager for their Investment Banking and Investment Management divisions. He later became an independent consultant (capital markets and investment services) for the National Commercial Bank, Jeddah Saudi Arabia. Kwabena has an MBA (Concentration in Corporate Finance) from Cornell University - Johnson Graduate School of Management, Ithaca, New York and a B.Sc In Biochemistry from the University of Kent - Canterbury U.K. He is a UK trained Chartered Accountant and qualified member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers UK.
Eguarekhide Longe - Head, Asset Management Before joining Diamond Capital, Eguarekhide was MD/CEO of Kakawa Asset Management where he was responsible for the overall strategic direction of the company. He started his career with Fidelity Finance Company Ltd as an investment executive and then moved onto Hamilton Hammer & Co Ltd as a stockbroking associate. He later joined Securities Transactions & Trust Co Ltd (SecTrust) where he worked as Head, Stockbroking and Vice President, Sales & Business Development and was responsible for the origination of new products and development and motivation of a sales team. After his stint at SecTrust, Eguarekhide moved to Shell Trustees Limited (now Shell Closed Pension Fund PFA) as a capital market analyst, First Funds Limited as Head, Financial Advisory Unit and Kakawa Asset Management as MD/CEO. Eguarekhide has an MBA from the IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Spain and a B.Sc in Political Science from the University of Ibadan. [back to top]
